Trained and graduated initially as a stage designer from The National School of Theater. Gutiérrez uses sound and performance art to investigate how these aural conditions affect everyday life. Through regular use of participatory techniques such as soundwalk and drift (dérive) she implements her vision of art practice as a critical and social engagement in connection with gender studies. Gutierrez is actively advocating listening practices while being one of the board of directors of the World Listening Project and currently as the scientific comitée of the Acoustic Ecology Network México. Her work with feminist and ephimeral collectives, has open the opportunity to co-create the Brooklyn League of Women Walkers, Womxn Walk the Walk, and Pilsen Derive, as autonomous initiatives in Brooklyn, Montreal, and Chicago.
